Biographical Information[edit]

Bogdan Leyton pitched for the Chilean national team in the 2012 South American Championship. He had a 2.31 ERA in junior college. Transferring to Baruch College as a junior, he was 1-0 with a 6.48 ERA. In 2016, the senior was again 1-0, this time with a 6.35 ERA. He was back with Chile for the 2016 South American Championship. He worked four innings against eventual champion Brazil (6 H, 7 BB, 7 R, 4 ER, 1 K), before Pablo Troncoso relieved in a 21-8 loss. He batted once, replacing Cristofer Robles and striking out against Ezequiel Cufre in a 16-0 loss to Argentina. Getting the ball in the 5th/6th place game, he turned in a fine start against Bolivia (5 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 1 R, 7 K) in a win; Sebastian Vega took over in the 6th. He tied Yesid Salazar for second in the tournament in walks, behind Luis Rico.

Leyton had a 7.20 ERA in two outings in the 2018 South American Championship, both against eventual champion Argentina. He was second in the event with 10 innings pitched, 3 behind Diego Echeverría.
