Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Bobby Bell played in the Toronto Blue Jays organization from 2008 to 2010 after going 13-1 in 146 2/3 career college innings. He was drafted by the club in the 18th round of the 2008 amateur draft, a couple of picks after pitcher Allen Webster and a couple of picks ahead of hurler Jeff Beliveau. Aaron Jersild was the signing scout.
In 21 relief appearances between the Auburn Doubledays and Lansing Lugnuts his first campaign in 2008, Bell had a 0.88 ERA with 43 strikeouts, no walks, no home runs allowed and only 15 hits surrendered in 30 2/3 innings. He was a New York-Penn League Mid-Season All-Star that year. He followed that by going 4-1 with a 2.43 ERA in 42 games (10 starts) for the Dunedin Blue Jays in 2009, allowing only 22 walks and 66 hits - while striking out 112 batters - in 96 1/3 innings. After struggling to a 3-3 record and a 5.93 ERA between the GCL Blue Jays, Dunedin and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in 2010, his professional career was over. Overall, Bell was 7-4 with a 3.27 ERA in 77 games (21 starts).
