Biographical Information[edit]
Bob Vail pitched 4 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates toward the end of the 1908 season, at a time when the Pirates were in a hotly-contested pennant race. The Pirates ended up winning 98 games and finishing one game out.
As a hitter, Vail went one for three and also got a walk, for a .500 OBP.
He was at Colby College in Maine at the same time as Jack Coombs. He was also at Davidson College for a year, at the same time as Willy Fetzer.
