Biographical Information[edit]

Bob Laurie played two seasons in the minors then was a scout.

Laurie signed with the Detroit Tigers out of college. As the starting second baseman for the 1981 Macon Peaches, he hit .238/.317/.306, stole 18 bases in 24 tries and fielding .945 at 2B. He was second on his club in steals. In 1982, he was a middle infielder for the Peaches (.229/.316/.293 in 44 G), Lakeland Tigers (.273/.333/.318 in 27 G) and Birmingham Barons (.207/.250/.241 in 35 G). Overall, he had batted .236/.310/.295 in 229 minor league games, with 103 runs, 69 RBI, 26 doubles, 3 triples, 5 homers and 27 steals in 36 tries. He drew 81 walks and struck out 159 times. He fielded .946 in 147 games at 2B and .933 in 69 at SS, also seeing a little action at the other two infield slots.

Laurie was assistant coach at Georgia Tech for four years. He then scouted for the Florida Marlins, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, San Diego Padres and Washington Nationals. He signed Josh Geer, Nate Karns, Jeff Mandel and Jason Stokes.
