Biographical Information[edit]

Josh Geer was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 3rd round of the 2005 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Bob Laurie and made his pro debut that summer.

Geer went 16-6 with a 3.20 ERA for the San Antonio Missions in 2007 and was named Texas League Pitcher of the Year.

Early in 2011, Geer was diagnosed with Stage III melanoma, a form of skin cancer, and had eight lymph nodes removed from his neck. He recovered fully and was able to resume pitching in the Arizona Fall League in September of that year.
