Biographical Information[edit]

Bo-geun Lee pitched in the KBO for 15 years, and he was the only player to play for the Unicorns/Heroes franchise under its five different names.

Lee was drafted by the Hyundai Unicorns in the 5th round of the 2005 KBO draft, and he had a 2.45 ERA in 14 games in his first season. Lee had a 3.62 ERA in 22 games in 2006, but his ERA rose to 11.70 in 2007 due to shoulder injury. The Unicorns released, and he was picked up by the Woori Heroes (Woori had bought the franchise, so this was really the same team, just under a different name). He only pitched 5 games for their big club in 2008, then he recorded a 4.26 ERA with 7 saves in 52 games in 2009 (the team was the Seoul Heroes after Woori withdrew funding). Lee notched 4 holds with a 4.32 ERA in 52 appearances in 2010 (when the team became the Nexen Heroes), then he was 5-3 with a 3.49 ERA in 2011. He suffered from a shoulder injury again in 2012, and he only pitched 27 games with a 5.27 ERA. Lee had a 4.31 ERA in 28 games in 2013, then he missed the next two seasons due to military service.

After returning, Lee was named the setup man of the Heroes in 2016. He notched 25 holds with a 4.45 ERA in 67 games, and he led the league in holds. Lee was 6-2 with a 5.47 ERA and 18 holds in 2017, and he was 3rd in holds (tied with Ju-won Oh). He collected 24 holds with a 4.28 ERA in 64 relief outings in 2018, and he was 2nd in holds (1 behind Hyoun-taek Oh) and 10th in appearances (tied with Yun-dong Kim and Seung-min Koo). However, Lee slumped to a 9.72 ERA in 19 games in 2019 (when the team was the Kiwoom Heroes), and the KT Wiz selected him in the second draft. He had a solid 2.51 ERA in 49 games with 9 holds and 6 saves in 2020, and he allowed 20 runs in 11 innings in 2021. Lee announced his retirement after the 2021 season.

Overall, Lee was 38-40 with a 4.60 ERA, collected 94 holds and 21 saves in 535 appearances, struck out 453 and pitched 665 innings in 15 seasons in the KBO. His repertoire included a fastball (peak 93.8 mph) and forkball.
