Blake Davis became an Oakland Athletics area scout in 2004 and signed Huston Street, Dallas Braden, Cliff Pennington, Craig Italiano, Sam Demel, Justin Friend and Corey Brown. He then became an agent and was advising Bubba Starling for a period. Davis returned to scouting as the Midwest Regional Supervisor for the Kansas City Royals in 2010 and advised them to draft Starling, which they did. He signed Andy Ferguson for the Royals.
