Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Ben Lasater played in the Florida/Miami Marlins system from 2007 to 2013. He reached Triple-A for the first time in 2012 and spent part of two seasons there, but he never reached the major leagues.

Taken by the Marlins in the 29th round of the 2007 amateur draft and signed by scout Joel Matthews, he began his career with the Low-A Jamestown Jammers that year. In 2008, between two clubs, he hit .289/.363/.483 with 16 home runs, 65 RBI and 94 hits in 92 games, earning a spot on the New York-Penn League Mid-Season All-Star team. In 2009, he slashed .290/.352/.468 with 16 home runs and 76 RBI in 126 games for the Greensboro Grasshoppers—making the South Atlantic League Mid-Season All-Star squad—and in 2010, he was a Florida State League Mid-Season All-Star, despite batting just .246/.294/.343 in 124 games for the Jupiter Hammerheads. He improved to .296/.363/.483 with 12 home runs and 60 RBI in 102 games for the Jacksonville Suns in 2011. He played 120 games between 2012 and 2013, spending 59 of them at Triple-A. He was a .227/.297/.329 hitter at that level.

Overall, Lasater hit .273/.339/.423 with 63 home runs and 322 RBI in 625 games over 7 seasons.
