Biographical Information[edit]

Asrar Ahmad debuted for the Pakistani national team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. In the opener against Brazil, he relieved Ihsan Ullah with a 8-0 deficit, the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the 7th. He got Vitor Ito to hit into a run-scoring force, then gave up a RBI single to Gabriel Maciel that put the mercy rule into play, ending the game.

He also pitched in Pakistan's second game, their only hurler used in both contests. He relieved Muhammad Zohaib with a 4-0 deficit, two on and two outs in the 4th against Great Britain and got Champ Stuart to pop out to end the inning. In the 5th, he allowed a single to Jasrado Chisholm, fanned Todd Isaacs, walked Jordan Serena, gave up a two-run triple to Albert Cartwright, walked Chris Berset and gave up a RBI single to Chavez Young. Muhammad Asif relieved but allowed both inherited runners to score, giving Ahmad five runs in 2/3 of an inning. For the event, his 45.00 ERA was double that of Ullah's Pakistan's next-highest hurler.
