Biographical Information[edit]
Aquilino Lopez debuted in the Korea Baseball Organization on April 5, 2009 for the KIA Tigers. He allowed hits to two of four Doosan Bears batters and gave up one run in two-thirds of an inning. Lopez went on to a strong year, going 14-5 with a 3.12 ERA. He tied Jeong-hoon Cho and Seung-hwan Yoon for the 2009 KBO lead in wins, was third in ERA (behind Kwang-hyun Kim and Byung-doo Jun) and was 7th with 129 strikeouts. He won the Gold Glove as the league's best overall pitcher; he was only the second foreigner ever to be named the best hurler in the circuit following Danny Rios in 2007. He won games one and five of the 2009 Korean Series, the latter being a four-hit shutout, to give KIA the pennant.
Lopez became a pitching coach with the DSL Red Sox 1 in 2016, DSL Red Sox in 2017, and DSL Red Sox1 again in 2018.
