Biographical Information[edit]

Angel Tovar pitched in the minors leagues and the CPBL.

Tovar started his professional with the New York Yankees, and he had a 8.22 ERA in 8 games for the GCL Yankees in 1997. He also pitched 3 games for the Tampa Yankees in that season. Tovar then went 3-1 with a 4.03 ERA for the Saskatoon Legends in 2003, and the Macoto Cobras signed him after he pitching for the Cancun Langosteros. However, he allowed 9 runs in 2 innings, then he left Taiwan. The San Diego Padres signed him in 2005, and Tovar had a 6.65 ERA in 16 games for the Portland Beavers and a 6.57 ERA in 8 games for the Mobile BayBears.

After leaving the Padres, Tovar went to the Cafeteros de Cordoba, but he only went 1-3 with a 11.32 ERA. He also had a 4.13 ERA in 31 appearances for the Tiburones de La Guaira in the winter, and he collected 8 saves with a 4.10 ERA for the Olmecas de Tabasco in 27 games in 2007. He had a 3.66 ERA in 25 games in the winter, but his ERA rose to 18.90 in 13 games in 2008. Tovar then played in Columbia until he announced his retirement in 2017.
