Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Andy Replogle played parts of two seasons in the majors with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Born in South Bend, Indiana, Replogle grew up there until moving to Fort Wayne during high school. After graduation, he was selected by the New York Mets in the fourth round of the 1972 amateur draft but did not sign. Instead, he attended Kansas State University, where his teammates included fellow future big leaguer Ted Power. While there, he set a school record with 25 wins.

Replogle was chosen by the St. Louis Cardinals in the ninth round of the 1975 amateur draft. After three years in their organization, he was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 1977 Rule V Draft, but before the 1978 season began, he was waived and acquired by the Brewers. Two years older than teammate Robin Yount and three years older than Paul Molitor, he spent that entire campaign with Milwaukee and put together a respectable rookie campaign. Splitting the first two months of the season between the bullpen and rotation, he won his first three decisions, and hurled a three-hitter against the Minnesota Twins on September 8th. Overall, he went 9-5 with a 3.92 ERA and a pair of shutouts in 32 outings. He was back in the minors with the Vancouver Canadians for most of 1979, appearing in 3 late-season games for the Brewers. He spent the whole 1980 season in the minors (loaned to the Detroit Tigers organization much of the year) and played in just one game in 1981 before his career ended by a torn rotator cuff.

After his retirement, Replogle moved to Florida and worked for the Estero Country Club in Estero, Florida. He died in Fort Myers in 2012 at the age of 58.
