Biographical Information[edit]

Andrew Gross has pitched in the minors and for the Israeli national team.

He was 7-2 with 7 saves and a 3.80 ERA in junior college in 2016 and Yavapai won the 2016 NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series. [1] He transferred to Texas-Arlington in 2018 and was 2-0 with a save and a 3.98 ERA, followed by 2-3, 4.11 with 17 saves as a senior. He led the Sun Belt Conference in saves and only Garrett Acton had more saves in NCAA Division I. [2]

The Tampa Bay Rays took him in the 39th round of the 2019 amateur draft; the scout was Jonathan Hall. [3] He was 1-4 with 7 saves and a 3.41 ERA for the Hudson Valley Renegades that summer. He tied Jerson Ramírez for 4th in the New York-Penn League in saves. The 2020 minor league season was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In '21, he was 6-1 with two saves and a 1.66 ERA in 33 games for the Charleston RiverDogs, issuing only six walks in 59 2/3 IP. He split '22 between the Bowling Green Hot Rods (0 R in 1 2/3 IP) and Montgomery Biscuits (2-3, 3 Sv, 4.29). He was 1-2 with 7 saves and a 3.32 ERA in 17 games for the Indios de Mayagüez. He tied Jose Espada and Roy Geigel for third in the Puerto Rican League in saves.

Suiting up for Israel in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, he made one appearance, relieving Evan Kravetz in the third with one on and one out against the Dominican national team (who had a 2-0 lead). He whiffed Eloy Jiménez then allowed a Ketel Marte double to score Rafael Devers. He walked Jeremy Peña and Jeimer Candelario singled to load the bases but he escaped the jam when Gary Sánchez grounded out. Rob Kaminsky took over in the fourth. [4]
