Biographical Information

Andrew Campbell has played in the minors and for the Australian national team.

He debuted in the 2009-2010 Claxton Shield, hitting .238/.385/.333 for Queensland. When the Australian Baseball League was reformulated in 2010-2011, he went 3 for 14 for the Brisbane Bandits. That summer, he batted .265/.363/.306 for the AZL Indians in the Cleveland Indians chain, starting regularly in left field. He produced at a .301/.387/.376 clip for Queensland in the 2011-2012 ABL; he had 3 outfield assists and no errors.

The Ipswich native struggled in '12 for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (.167/.238/.208 in 21 G) and AZL Indians (.182/.265/.250 in 12 G), though he went 6-for-6 in steals. His time in the Indians chain came to an end. With Brisbane in 2012-2013, he played CF, LF and 2B and batted .275/.355/.403. The next summer, he fell to .232/.308/.244 while backing up Brad Dutton at second.

In 2014-2015, he hit .303/.340/.345, starting in right for Brisbane. He fell to .225/.314/.385 in 2015-2016. He played for Australia in the 2016 Haarlem Baseball Week. He struggled further in 2016-2017 (.227/.292/.295) while moving to the bench. He rebounded in 2017-2018, with 51 putouts, 6 assists and no errors in the outfield. He hit .298/.354/.536 with 9 homers and 36 runs in 39 games as Brisbane won the title. He tied Tim Kennelly for 7th in the league in runs.

Andrew produced at a .310/.415/.542 clip with 10 dingers, 28 walks and 34 RBI in 40 games in 2018-2019. He tied Tristan Gray and Luke Hughes for 3rdi n home runs, tied Hughes for 5th in RBI, was 2nd in walks (4 behind Trent D'Antonio), was 6th in total bases (84), was 8th in OBP (between Gray and Kennelly), was 10th in slugging and was 9th in OPS. He was named the league All-Star center fielder.

Campbell then was with Australia for the 2019 Premier 12. He hit .143/.143/.238 as the starting left fielder, but the numbers weren't much worse than the team as a whole (.147/.194/.225). He got his hits off Bladimir Baños, Tanner Houck and Chih-Wei Hu.
