Biographical Information[edit]

Starting pitcher Andrew Barbosa has played in the Arizona Diamondbacks minor league system since 2012 (through 2014).

He was originally drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 15th round of the 2006 amateur draft, but did not sign. He was then taken by the Giants in the 48th round of the 2007 amateur draft - a couple picks ahead of infielder Jake Elmore - but again, he did not sign. The Giants took him again in the 15th round of the 2010 amateur draft, but he did not ink a contract. He did sign after the Diamondbacks took him in the 36th round of the 2012 amateur draft.

He pitched for the Missoula Osprey and South Bend Silver Hawks in 2012, going a combined 3-5 with a 3.51 ERA in 15 games, striking out 88 batters in 74 1/3 innings. In 2013, he was 11-9 with a 3.81 ERA in 26 starts, with 160 Ks in 134 2/3 innings for the Visalia Rawhide. He made the California League Post-Season All-Star team that year. He began 2014 with the Rawhide.
