Biographical Information[edit]
Anderson Melendez played in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team.
He was signed by Milwaukee Brewers scout Alcides Melendez (unclear if there is any relation). [1] He hit .232/.266/.297 for the 2017 DSL Brewers with six outfield assists in 64 games, while stealing 7 bases in 9 tries. Coming stateside, he fell to .135/.170/.202 for the '18 AZL brewers. He batted .237/.314/.311 for the 2019 AZL Brewers Blue and had 8 assists in 35 games in the outfield. He was 2 for 6 with a run and a RBI when Venezuela won the 2021 U-23 Baseball World Cup. [2]
Melendez was on the Venezuelan team that won Bronze in the 2022 Bolivarian Games. He played one game, starting their opener in left against the Dominican national team. His second-inning single off former major leaguer Alfredo Figaro scored Jose Ortega with Venezuela's first run of the Games. He flew out in the third then was replaced. [3]
