Aljoscha Schattmann has pitched in the Bundesliga. In 2005, he was named the best junior pitcher in Germany. He debuted with the Heidenheim Heideköpfe in 2006, going 0-1 with 2 runs in 12 innings. He fell to 1-0, 9.82 in 2007, then allowed five runs in two innings in 2008. He tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in 2009 and one shutout inning in 2010. In 2011, he started off 3-1 with a 1.95 ERA, second-best on the staff behind former major leaguer Dusty Bergman and well ahead of veterans Peter Dankerl and Martin Almstetter. He was 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in the 2011 European Cup, shutting out Unipol Bologna for five innings before fading as Heidenheim pulled off an upset of the Italian squad.
