Biographical Information[edit]

Alexis Rivero pitched in the minor leagues and for the Venezuela national baseball team.

Rivero was signed by Philadelphia Phillies scout Jesús Méndez in 2012 [1] and he went 5-2 with a 2.03 ERA in 2013 for the VSL Phillies; he was second in the Venezuelan Summer League in ERA (though .96 behind leader Adbert Alzolay) and tied for 5th in wins. [2] His ERA was 2.61 in 12 games of relief (2-0, Sv) for the GCL Phillies in 2014, then he allowed 2 runs in 2 1/3 innings for the Tigres de Aragua in the winter. Rivero then notched 7 saves with a 2.62 ERA in 25 relief outings for the 2015 Lakewood BlueClaws, and he collected another 3 saves with a 2.67 ERA in 16 games for the Clearwater Threshers. He tied César Jiménez for 9th in the Phillies chain in appearances and tied Joey DeNato and Adam Loewen for 6th in saves. He pitched 14 games for Aragua that winter, and his ERA was 4.20. Rivero then had a solid 1.13 ERA with 5 saves in 24 games for the Threshers in 2016, but his ERA rose to 4.05 in 23 appearances for the Reading Fightin Phils. He tied Víctor Arano for 6th in the Phils system in games pitched. He was 2-2 with a 4.80 ERA for the Tigers in winter ball.

The Maracay native went 4-3 with a 4.08 ERA in 35 relief outings in Reading in 2017, and he surrendered 7 runs in 9 innings with the AAA Lehigh Valley IronPigs. He was 6th in the organization in appearances this year. He also pitched 16 games with a 4.11 ERA for the Aguilas del Zulia in winter ball, but he surrendered 4 runs in 1 2/3 innings for Aragua. Rivero mainly stayed in Reading in 2018, and he was 3-1 with a 3.45 ERA in 25 appearances. He had a terrible 6.91 ERA in 14 1/3 innings for the Threshers, and he also pitched a shutout inning with the IronPigs. His season ended early due to tendonitis. [3] In the winter, his ERA was a solid 1.74 for the Cardenales de Lara, but he allowed 9 runs in 4 2/3 innings in Zulia. He pitched 2/3 of a shutout inning for the Cardenales de Lara in the 2019 Caribbean Series, teaming with Wilfredo Boscán, Ricardo Gómez and Pedro Rodríguez to whitewash the Leñadores de Las Tunas.

Rivero's ERA was 5.92 for the IronPigs in 2019, and he also had a 4.91 ERA in 3 games in Reading. He then became a free agent, and he didn't pitch in 2020 as the coronavirus shut down the minors. Rivero signed with the Lancaster Barnstormers in 2021, but he only pitched 4 games for them. He collected 20 saves with a solid 1.16 ERA in 30 relief outings for the Lake Erie Crushers in 2022, tying Lukas Young for second in the Frontier League in saves (two shy of Logan Sawyer) and he pitched 3 games with a 3.38 ERA for the Cleburne Railroaders. Sawyer beat him out as the league's All-Star relief pitcher. He also notched 11 saves with an elite 1.82 ERA for the Leones de Ponce in the winter. He led the Puerto Rican League in saves, three ahead of Ricardo Gómez. Rivero made it onto Venezuela's roster for the 2023 World Baseball Classic, but he didn't pitch any games.

He collected 6 saves with a 2.92 ERA in 12 games for the Crushers in 2023. Rivero extended his solid performance with the Leones, as he notched 10 saves with a 1.21 ERA in 22 games for the 2023-2024 campaign. He again led in saves, one ahead of Andre Scrubb and Gómez. He won the Reliever of the Year award for his efforts. [4] He began '24 with the Lake County Dockhounds but struggled a bit (2-2, 5 Sv, 5.56 in 19 G). He was waived and picked up by the Milwaukee Milkmen [5] but had a 2-1, 10.80 record in 11 games there.
