Alexis Candelario has pitched in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, the USA and Italy.

Candelario was 0-4 with a 2.73 ERA for the 2002 DSL Braves 1. In 2003, he allowed only one hit, one walk and no runs in four innings for the GCL Braves and had a 3-3, 2.47 record for the DSL Braves 2. He later pitched for the Mayos de Navojoa in the Mexican Pacific League (0-1, 1.59 in 3 G) in 2011-2012. In the summer of 2012, he starred in the Liga Norte de Mexico at 10-3, 2.93 with 130 K in 101 1/3 IP. In 2012-2013, he was 0-2 with a 6.43 ERA in six outings for Navajoa. He won a pitching Triple Crown in the Liga Norte in 2013, with a 12-0, 1.18 caampaign with 101 whiffs in 84 innings. He had a 0.90 ERA in the postseason, with 34 K in 30 innings.

Alexis had a 3.34 ERA for the Gigantes de Rivas in the 2013-2014 Nicaraguan League. He was 5-2 with a save and a 3.30 ERA for the same club in 2014-2015. He then signed with ASD Rimini in the Italian Baseball League. In the 2015 European Cup, he struck out 11 in 6 1/3 IP but allowed four runs in a loss to eventual champion Curacao Neptunus. He was third in the Rotterdam pool in whiffs, behind Leonel Cespedes and Luke Sommer. In the regular season, he was gone 8-2 with a 1.97 ERA, striking out 101 in 68 2/3 IP and allowing an opponent batting line of .158/.247/.171. He was second in the league in Ks (two behind Paul Estrada), tied Riccardo De Santis for second in wins (one behind Marquis Fleming) and tied Carlos Richetti for 4th in ERA. He was 1-2 with a 0.99 ERA in the second round. In the 2015 Italian Series, he was dominant at 2-0, 0.68, beating Unipol Bologna in games 1 and 4; Bologna had beaten Rimini in 8 of 10 regular-season games and had been the league's dominant team going into the Series, but Rimini pulled off a sweep. Candelario was named Series MVP.

Candelario was assistant pitching coach of the DSL Diamondbacks Red in 2023.
