Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Al Goetz was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 26th round of the 1984 amateur draft and played one season in their organization. In 19 outings for the Bristol Tigers that year, he went 0-2 with a save and a 7.40 ERA, with 31 hits, 15 walks and 21 whiffs in 24 1/3 innings. After his playing days, he was an Atlanta Braves scout and was responsible for signing Brian McCann and Jeff Francoeur, among others. More recently, he has been a player agent.
Goetz also signed Chuck James, Cody Johnson, Cory Rasmus, Clint Sammons, Brandon Jones, Cole Armstrong, Kyle Cofield, Michael Fisher, Cory Gearrin, C.J. Bressoud, Tim Gustafson, Will Startup and Tyler Flowers.
