Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Brandon Jones was selected by the Atlanta Braves as a draft-and-follow pick in the 24th round of the 2003 amateur draft and was signed by scout Al Goetz the following May. He made his pro debut that summer with the Danville Braves, hitting .297 in 57 games. Despite missing two months of the 2005 season with a broken hand, he hit .312 in 64 games between four minor league teams that year. He began 2006 with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, hitting .257 with 7 home runs, before being promoted to the AA Mississippi Braves, where he hit .273, also with 7 homers.

Jones spent the first half of the 2007 campaign back with Mississippi, hitting .293 with 15 home runs and earning a spot on the Southern League All-Star team. In July he was promoted to the Richmond Braves and hit .300 with a 13-game hitting streak in 44 games there before earning a late season callup to Atlanta in September. He began 2008 back with Richmond and was recalled by Atlanta for about a month before being sent back to the minors.
