Biographical Information[edit]
Al Gardella was a teammate of his brother Danny Gardella on the New York Giants in 1945. He later managed in the minor leagues after his playing career ended. He died of leukemia at age 88.
He played only 16 major league games, but had a long minor league career stretching from 1937 to 1953. He was both a first baseman and a pitcher in the minors, but was strictly a position player during his major league stint.
