Biographical Information[edit]

Adam Gaylord was a minor league infielder for two years. His brother Brian Gaylord played in the minors and his father Ken Gaylord was a college coach for many years.

Adam hit .312 as a high school sophomore, .342 as a junior and .393 as a senior. As a freshman at Stanford, he started at short and hit .283/.336/.345 in 2007. He was 1 for 15 as a backup infielder on the team that made the 2008 College World Series. Starting at 3B in 2009, he produced at a .289/.308/.390 clip. A backup 3B-DH as a senior, he hit .232/.274/.304. The Baltimore Orioles, behind scout James Keller, took him in the 31st round of the 2010 amateur draft. He hit .273/.301/.352 and fielded .970 as the main third baseman for the '10 Aberdeen Ironbirds. As a backup corner infielder for the 2011 Delmarva Shorebirds, he slumped to .209/.264/.252 with only one homer in 301 AB. As a pro, he batted .239/.281/.299 with 51 runs, 51 RBI, 23 doubles, 3 home runs, 26 walks and 108 strikeouts in 151 games. He fielded .966 in 100 games at 3B and .990 in 39 at 1B.
