Biographical Information[edit]

Brian Gaylord played one season in the minors. His brother Adam Gaylord also played in the minors and his father Ken Gaylord was a longtime college coach.

Brian hit .333 as a high school junior and .350 as a high school senior. He was All-League in both baseball and football (tight end/wide receiver) in high school. He played for his father at Cerritos College for two years, hitting .244 as a freshman outfielder and .325 as a sophomore 1B/3B/OF. As a junior at Lewis-Clark State, he produced at a .357/.422/.626 clip with 44 runs in 46 games. He fell to .279/.323/.539 with 12 home runs and 60 RBI in 52 games as a senior. Undrafted, he was signed by the Kansas City Royals. As the main 1B for the AZL Royals, he hit only .200/.265/.329 with 29 runs, 26 RBI, 4 home runs and 57 strikeouts in 210 at-bats while fielding .983.
