History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

The 2005 Texas Rangers were a rather unremarkable team that finished under .500 and in third place in the AL West. However, in what aspect of the game, they were exceptional, which was hitting home runs. Their 260 homers are the second-most ever hit by a team, only behind the 264 hit by the 1997 Seattle Mariners. 1B Mark Teixeira led the way with 43. 2B Alfonso Soriano belted 36, DH David Dellucci 29, 3B Hank Blalock and LF Kevin Mench 25 each, SS Michael Young 24 and 3B Rod Barajas 21. With the 17 hit by CF Gary Matthews and the 16 by RF Richard Hidalgo, every single regular had had least 15 long balls.
