History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

The 2002 Texas Rangers featured SS Alex Rodriguez playing his second season with the team after signing what was at the time the largest contract in major league history. A-Rod had a great season, leading the American league with 57 homers and 142 RBIs, but otherwise the team was quite mediocre, finishing 18 games below .500 and last in their division by a healthy margin. The Rangers did set a major league record by homering in 27 consecutive games, a record that would be untouched until tied by the 2019 New York Yankees.
