The 1970 Washington Senators were led by slugger Frank Howard, who hit 44 home runs and had 126 RBI, in addition to 132 walks and a .416 on-base percentage. No other player on the club had more than 20 home runs or 76 RBI, though speedster Ed Stroud contributed 29 steals in just 129 games. Dick Bosman went 16-12 with a 3.00 ERA in 230.2 innings as the team's best starter, and Darold Knowles had a 2.04 ERA with 27 saves in relief, despite posting a 2-14 win-loss record to lead the club in losses.
