1966 Central American and Caribbean Games

The 1966 Central American and Caribbean Games' were the 10th Central American and Caribbean Games. They were held from June 11 through June 25 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

 Cuba won Gold, as usual, but did not have an easy time of it. Exiles from Cuba threw stones at the Cuban players during some games and most of their squad missed opening ceremonies when their ship was detained by Puerto Rican authorities. On the field, they went 6-1, but faced numerous challenges. Gaspar Pérez lost a 1-0 duel to Venezuela on an error while Miguel Cuevas had the big double in a 1-0 win over the Dominican Republic. Pedro Chavez led all players in average (.444), hits (12) and RBI (6), while Cuevas batted .435. Antonio Gonzalez tied for the steal lead (5). Rigoberto Betancourt led the Games with 18 strikeouts and went 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA. Perez finished with 0.00 ERA but a 1-1 record. They were managed by former major leaguer Gil Torres.

 Puerto Rico took Silver with a 5-2 record, both losses coming against Cuba. Ramon Ortiz led the Games with 5 doubles, while Juan Santos tied for the most swipes (5).

 Panama got the Bronze with a 4-2 record. Emilio Castro?Manuel Castillo? (Bjarkamn lists Emilio Castillo, but the medal listing shows an Emilio Castro and a Manuel Castillo, no Emilio Castillo) was the only pitcher with multiple wins.

 Dominican Republic placed 4th at 3-3, tied with  Venezuela. Venezuela's A. Villamil had a 0.00 ERA.

 Mexico was 6th at 1-5.

 Netherlands Antilles had a weak tournament, losing all 6 of their games.
