Record: 88-63-5. Finished 2nd in American League (1910 AL)
Managed by George Stallings (78-59) and Hal Chase (10-4)
History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
The 1910 New York Highlanders finished with a total of 88 wins and 63 losses, coming in 2nd in the American League. This strong performance came out of nowhere, as they had finished below .500 the previous year. The major difference was the addition of rookie pitcher Russ Ford who went 26-6 while baffling opposing hitters with the emery ball, soon to be made illegal.
New York was managed by George Stallings and Hal Chase. Home games were played at Hilltop Park. The alternate and equally unofficial nickname, "Yankees", was being used more and more frequently by the media.
