Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder/second baseman Zeke DeVoss has played in the minor leagues since 2011.
He was originally drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 38th round of the 2009 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. He did sign after being taken by the Chicago Cubs in the 3rd round of the 2011 amateur draft, with the signing scout being Lukas McKnight and the bonus being $500,000.
He began his career with the GCL Cubs and Boise Hawks in 2011, hitting .309/.449/.383 with 16 stolen bases, 33 walks (to 32 strikeouts) in 42 games. Though his averaged slipped to .249 for the Peoria Chiefs in 2012, he still managed a .382 on-base percentage and stole 35 bases in 125 games. He earned a spot on the Midwest League Mid-Season All-Star team that year. His averaged slipped again 2013, to .244 for the Daytona Cubs, but his OBP improved to .392 and he stole 39 bases in 117 games.
He began 2014 in the Cubs system, but was let go after hitting only .155 in 66 games between Daytona and the Tennessee Smokies. The Athletics signed him in July.
