Zachary Phelps

Biographical Information[edit]

Zach Phelps was a criminal lawyer from 1881-1901, an advocate for numerous Democratic politicians and a major league owner. Phelps was co-owner of the Louisville Colonels from 1884-1887 and served as president for the last three years. He was president of the American Association in 1890 and for part of 1891. He later was an attorney for the National League. He died at age 44 of pneumonia.
