David Nemec

David Nemec, born in 1938 is one of the most prolific baseball historians of the past couple of decades. He attended Ohio State University, where he was a member of the varsity baseball team, then moved to the West Coast. He began by writing baseball trivia books, before turning to more serious historical works. He wrote an encyclopedia on 19th century baseball, the definitive history of the 1882-1891 American Association, a frequently updated record book, a baseball trivia book and more. He also has written several novels.

Books written by David Nemec include: The Great Encyclopedia of 19th Century Major League Baseball (1997), The Beer and Whisky League (1995), Great Baseball Feats, Facts & Firsts, and many others.

Apart from his interest in baseball, Nemec is a playwright and has also published a number of true crime non-fiction books. He is the author of one novel about 19th century baseball, Early Dreams (1998), which focuses on the 1884 season.

He was named a recipient of the Henry Chadwick Award in 2015.
