Biographical Information[edit]
Yukio Takemoto has played in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team.
Takemoto represented Japan in the 1979 Intercontinental Cup and 1980 Amateur World Series. The Lotte Orions drafted him in the first round of the 1979 NPB draft, but he refused to sign. The Yakult Swallows selected him, again in the first round, of the 1981 NPB draft. Takemoto recorded a 3.72 ERA in 17 games in his rookie year, but he only pitched 3 games in 1982. His ERA was a terrible 6.38 in 1983, and he allowed 4 runs in just 5 1/3 innings in 1984. He announced his retirement after the 1984 season.
Overall, Takemoto was 0-5 with a 4.71 ERA and pitched 72 2/3 innings in 4 seasons in NPB.
