Biographical Information[edit]
Yuki Nomura has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Nomura was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the second round of the 2018 NPB draft, and he spent his rookie season in the NPB Farm Leagues. [1] Nomura fractured his right little finger while catching Kenya Wakatsuki's line drive on July 7, 2020, and he only played 21 games that season. He suffered a right knee injury after that, so he started his next season on June 4. He still hit .267/.303/.361 with 7 homers in 2021. He had a .279/.313/.411 batting line in 2022, but slumped to .236/.309/.383 with 13 homers in 2023.
The young infielder then made it onto Japan's roster for the 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship. He drew a walk against Po-Ching Chen of Chinese Taipei in the opener, but he then was 0-for-3 against South Korea. He was 2-for-2, with a two-run double against Brodie Cooper-Vassalakis of Australia. Japan beat South Korea in the title game and won Gold. [2]
