Biographical Information[edit]

Brodie Cooper-Vassalakis has pitched in the Australian Baseball League and for the Australian national team.

Cooper-Vassalakis represented Australia in the 2017 U-18 Baseball World Cup, going 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA; he lost to Jun-won Seo and South Korea. His 10 K were second on the team behind Jack O'Loughlin. [1] He had a 4.66 ERA in 4 games for the Canberra Cavalry in 2016-2017, and he went to the USA and joined the Grand Canyon University. He was 1-2 with a 11.91 ERA as a freshman and improved to 4-0, 4.76 as a sophomore. His junior year, he had a save and a 1.23 ERA but it was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. He slipped to 0-1, 18.47 in 2021 and was 2-2 with a save, a 5.08 ERA and 47 K in 33 2/3 IP in 2022. Returning for a 6th year of eligibility, he was 1-3 with a 3.95 ERA and 36 K in 27 1/3 IP in 2023.

He returned to Canberra after graduating from college, and his ERA was 8.79 in 10 games in 2023-2024. Cooper-Vassalakis also represented Australia in the 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship. He started against South Korea, and he allowed a RBI single to Hyung-jun Kim while walking 3 in 2 innings. He then relieved Conor Laverty in the 6th inning versus Japan, but he allowed 6 runs (0 earned) in 2 2/3 innings. The Australia lost to Chinese Taipei in the Bronze Medal game. [2]
