Biographical Information

Yosvany Almario-Cabrera was a minor league player, hitting .325 in 7 seasons, mostly in the hitter-friendly Golden Baseball League. He played outfield primarily.

He was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 18th round of the 2004 amateur draft. He hit .346/.413/.519 with 23 runs in 41 games for the GCL Yankees that summer. He again topped .300 in 2005, split between the Charleston RiverDogs (.316/.348/.516 in 45 G) and Tampa Yankees (.286/.333/.349 in 50 G). In 2006, he played for the Calgary Vipers of the Northern League, hitting .229/.286/.300 in 17 games. Almario-Cabrera played in the Golden Baseball League from 2007 to 2010. The first year, he produced at a .357/.390/.511 clip with 21 steals in 24 tries. He joined Daniel Nava and Jon Kaplan as the Golden Baseball League All-Star outfield. He finished among the league leaders in average (3rd, 14 points behind leader Nava), runs (56, 10th), steals (tied for 5th with Eric Pringle), RBI (tied for 6th, 58), hits (100, 1st) and doubles (tied for 7th with Chris Wakeland).

Back with Yuma (now the Yuma Scorpions) in 2008, he remained productive at .328/.384/.570 with 22 2B and 11 HR in 60 games. With the St. George Roadrunners in 2009, he hit .311/.359/.478 with 64 runs, 58 RBI and 23 doubles in 78 games, while stealing 15 bases in 20 tries. He batted .357/.415/.554 for St. George in 2010, with 45 runs, 52 RBI and 8 homers in 55 games. He finished 10th in average.
