Biographical Information[edit]
Yong-gyun Shin managed and coached in the Korea Baseball Organization for more than 20 years.
Shin was a submarine pitcher on the South Korean national team in the 1963 Asian Championship, and he shut out Japan in the final to help his country win their first Gold in international events. He also pitched for them in the 1965 Asian Championship, and he was the first pitcher to introduce the sinker to Korea. Shin then became the pitching coach of the Sammi Superstars in 1985, the OB Bears from 1986 to 1988 and the Pacific Dolphins from 1989 to 1991. He was named the manager of the Ssangbangwool Raiders in 1993, and he managed the Haitai Tigers minor league team from 1996 to 1998. Shin became the pitching coach of the Samsung Lions in 2000, and he was their minor league manager from 2001 to 2004. He moved to the KIA Tigers as their minor league pitching coach from 2010 to 2012, and he was the pitching coach of the Hanwha Eagles from 2013 to 2014.
