Biographical Information[edit]
Yong-cheol Lee played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 7 years.
Lee was drafted by the MBC Blue Dragons in the first round of the 1988 KBO draft, and he went 7-11 with a 2.81 ERA in his first season. He was 7th in ERA (between Seong-kil Kim and Sang-yun Lee) and 6th in losses (tied with Yeong-il Oh and Bong-geun Kim). Lee also won the KBO Rookie of the Year. However, he slumped to 7-7 with a 5.44 ERA in 1989, and he had a 2.48 ERA in 10 games in 1990. Lee struggled again in 1991 as his ERA was 6.39 in 23 games, and he only pitched 18 games combined before he announced his retirement after the 1994 season. He was the pitching coach for the Lions from 1998 to 1999, and he was their scout from 1994 to 1997. Lee then became a commentator for KBS from 2001 to 2019.
Overall, Lee was 20-28 with a 4.47 ERA, struck out 143 and pitched 414 1/3 in 7 seasons in the KBO.
