Biographical Information[edit]

Yoeung-sek Son pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization for 8 years.

Son was drafted by the Lotte Giants in the first round of the 2006 KBO draft, and he mainly stayed in the minors in 2006 as he only played 4 games with the big club. He hit .343/.382/.400 in 44 games in 2007, and he missed the next two seasons due to military service. Son hit .263/.377/.351 in 2011, then he recorded a .266/.329/.297 batting line in 2012. He was placed in the minors in the next two seasons, and he only got 10 at-bats combined with the major league. His batting line was .217/.229/.246 in 2015, and he played 56 games with a .244/.278/.300 batting line in 2016. Son announced his retirement after the 2016 season. He later coached the Giants from 2018 to 2019, and he coached Busan High School from 2021 to 2022. Son joined the NC Dinos as their fielding coach of the minor league team in 2023. He also coached the South Korea national baseball team in the 2023 Asian Championship.

Overall, Son hit .262/.311/.311 with 95 hits in 8 seasons in KBO.
