Biographical Information[edit]
Ying-Wei Wu played in the CPBL for 5 years.
Wu was signed by the Brother Elephants when they were founded in 1990, and he hit .252/.311/.328 in his rookie year. On October 5, 1991, he became the first local player in CPBL history to hit a inside-the-park home run against Longo Garcia. He slumped to .217/.244/.287 in 1991, so he lost his spot and he only got 75 at-bats in the next three seasons. Wu announced his retirement after the 1994 season.
Overall, Wu had hit .228/.276/.307 with 81 hits and 16 doubles in 5 seasons in the CPBL.
