Biographical Information[edit]

Yi-Sung Chen pitched in the CPBL for 8 years.

Chen was signed by the Brother Elephants when they were founded in 1990, and he was 7-7 with a 3.55 ERA in his first season. He was moved to the bullpen in 1991, and he had a 2.68 ERA in 21 appearances. Chen then went 4-1 with a 3.79 ERA in 1992, and his ERA was 4.70 in 15 games in 1993. He slumped to a 6.75 ERA in 9 games in 1994, and his ERA rose to 8.14 in 12 games in 1995. Chen only pitched 11 more games for the Elephants in the next two seasons, and he announced his retirement in 1997. He passed away due to colorectal cancer in 2020.

Overall, Chen was 14-12 with a 4.32 ERA, struck out 175 and pitched 337 2/3 innings in 8 seasons in the CPBL.
