Biographical Information[edit]

Yeong-gyun Chang was an outfielder on the South Korean national team that won the 1997 Asian Championship. He also represented Korea in the 1998 Baseball World Cup, hitting .273/.314/.545 with two homers in nine games, handling 15 putouts error-free as their starting right fielder. Only Hyuk Kang and Hee-seop Choi hit more dingers for them. He also won Gold in the 1998 Asian Games. The Samsung Lions drafted him in the third round of the 1999 KBO draft. Chang didn't have many chances with the big club, only playing 56 games in his 5-year career (and getting 53 plate appearances). The Lions released him after the 2003, and he announced his retirement.
