Biographical Information[edit]

Yeon-hun Kim played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 8 years.

Kim represented South Korea in the 2005 Asian Championship and the 2005 Baseball World Cup, hitting .280/.357/.360 while manning shortstop (primarily), second base and third base. He struck out in 10 of 25 AB. He had big games offensively in wins over Brazil and Sweden but made two errors to help cost his club the game against Panama.. The KIA Tigers selected him in the 2nd round of the 2007 KBO draft, and he hit .148/.194/.213 in 52 games in 2007. The Tigers then traded him with Byeong-doo Jun to the SK Wyverns for Jong-bum Chae, Seong-woo Lee and Hyeong-cheol Kim, but Kim struggled again in 2008 as he had a 4-for-36 record. He improved to .319/.357/.404 in 68 games in 2009, but he then slumped to .243/.259/.287 in 2010. Kim's batting line fell to .188/.250/.228 in 2011, and he missed the next two seasons due to military service. After staying in the minors for two seasons, Kim returned in 2015 and he hit .267/.338/.333 in 49 games. The KT Wiz selected him in the second draft in 2016. He played 103 games in 2016, but he struggled again and his slash line was .217/.244/.295. Kim went 4-for-24 in 2017, then he announced his retirement. He was the baserunning coach of the Wiz minors team in 2018, and he was the fielding coach for them from 2019 to 2020 and in 2023. Kim also served as fielding coach of their big club in 2022, and he was named the minor league baserunning coach in 2024.

Overall, Kim hit .226/.265/.287 with 175 hits and 4 homers in 8 seasons in the KBO.
