Biographical Information[edit]
Yen-Jui Chen pitched in the minor leagues and CPBL.
Chen represented Taiwan in the 2010 World Junior Championship, going 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA. He was signed by Minnesota Twins scout Cary Broder in 2010, and he went 0-4 with a 4.33 ERA for the GCL Twins in 2011. He was 2-3 with a 3.41 ERA in 2012, then the Twins released him. Chen returned to Taiwan, and the EDA Rhinos took him in the 11th round of the 2015 CPBL Draft. He had a 20.25 ERA in 2 games for their big club in 2015, then his ERA was 6.29 in the minors in 2016. He was released after having a 10.29 ERA in 9 games in 2017, and the CTBC Brothers picked him up. However, Chen only pitched 9 games with a 3.60 ERA in the minors, then he announced his retirement.
Chen’s repertoire included a fastball (peak 91.3 mph), slider and changeup.
