Biographical Information

Yankiel Mauris has pitched in Cuba and for the Cuban national team.

He debuted for the Gallos de Sancti Spíritus in the 2014-2015 Cuban Serie Nacional, going 4-1 with a 2.68 ERA. When his team didn't make the second half, he reinforced Granma but was 0-1 with a 7.80 ERA in ten outings for them. In 2015-2016, he was 0-6 with 7 saves and a 3.66 ERA for the Gallos in the first half and 0-1 with a 8.68 ERA for Las Tunas in the second half. He tied for 9th in losses and missed the top ten in saves by two.

Mauris then defected from Cuba, resulting in his suspension. Returning from the Dominican Republic, he was back in action by 2019-2020, going 6-0 with two saves and a 3.56 ERA. He was superb in 2020-2021 at 10-2, 1.40 with 5 saves. He tied Alberto Bicet and Renner Rivero for 5th in wins despite his relief role.

The right-hander was 4-4 with 8 saves and a 2.78 ERA in 2021-2022 (mistakenly listed in BR Register at 2022-2023), tying Kendry Hernández and Kelbis Rodríguez for 9th in saves. He fell to 1-2, 4.58 in the postseason. In the new Cuban Elite League in 2022, he was 0-1 with 3 saves and a 2.81 ERA for the Ganaderos de Sancti Spiritus, Ciego de Avila & Camagüey.

He was 7-1 with 8 saves and a 3.30 ERA in the 2023 Serie Nacional and 2-0 in the postseason. He was 10th in saves and tied for 7th with 27 appearances. He retired all four batters he faced when Cuba won the 2023 Caribbean Baseball Cup. He was 3-1 with 3 saves and a 5.14 ERA in the 2023 Elite League. He allowed six hits and two walks in four innings in the 2023 Pan American Games but was not charged with a run.

In the 2024 Serie Nacional, he was 3-5 with a league-leading 12 saves and a 3.00 ERA in the regular season and 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in the postseason. He was then on Cuba's announced roster for the 2024 Premier 12.
