Biographical Information[edit]

Alberto Bicet has a winning percentage over 71 in his first six seasons in the Cuban Serie Nacional, pitching for Santiago de Cuba. He is the brother of Alejandro Bicet.

Bicet won five games in the 2005 Super Liga, tying Norge Luis Vera for the league lead. In 2005-2006, he led the Serie Nacional with 19 hit batsmen. He also tied for 4th in the circuit with 9 saves. He was 7-8 with a 3.98 ERA that year.

Bicet pitched for Cuba's "B" team in the 2006 Haarlem Baseball Week; his 13.50 ERA led the squad. In the 2006-2007 campaign, Bicet was 7-1 with five saves and a 3.43 ERA. Back with the Cuban team for the 2007 World Port Tournament, he went 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA. He tied Leon Boyd, Arley Sánchez and Yadel Martí for the tourney lead in victories.

Alberto was 11-3 with four saves and a 4.59 ERA in 2007-2008 to run his career record to 71-29 with 26 saves and a 4.11 ERA. In 2007-2008, he tied for 5th in the circuit in wins. He struggled in game two of the finals but Santiago de Cuba still won the pennant.

In 2008-2009, the 25-year-old posted a 9-2, 3.83 record with 13 saves. He was second in the Serie Nacional with 36 appearances, 4th in saves and tied with Jonder Martinez and Pedro Luis Lazo for second in winning percentage (trailing Valeri García). Bicet was then put on Cuba's preliminary 58-man roster for the 2009 Baseball World Cup.

Bicet fell to 9-5, 4.91 in 2009-2010. He tied Pedro Luis Lazo for sixth in the league with 5 complete games and was sixth with 139 hits allowed. He just missed the top 10 in wins.
