Valeri García was 31-30 with 7 saves and a 3.30 ERA in six Cuban seasons through 2007-2008. He was the losing pitcher in the 2005 Cuban All-Star game. In 2008-2009, the Ciego de Ávila right-hander went 11-1 with a 4.48 ERA. He tied Aroldis Chapman, Norge Vera and Maikel Folch for 4th in the Serie Nacional in wins and led in win percentage.

In 2009-2010, García was horrid with a 2-3 record and 26 runs (24 earned) in 27 innings. Opponents hit .336 with 38 hits and he walked 14 for a WHIP of almost two.
