Biographical Information[edit]

Yang-Chih Tseng played in the CPBL for 6 years. His brother was CPBL infielder Yang-Yueh Tseng.

Tseng was drafted by the Uni-President Lions in the first round of the 2001 CPBL Draft, and he hit .338/.403/.523 in 24 games in 2001. He recorded a .313/.389/.500 batting line with a homer in the 2001 Taiwan Series, but the Lions still lost to the Brother Elephants in 7 games. Tseng was named the starting first baseman in the 2002 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 0-for-2. He ended up hitting .245/.312/.287 in 2002, then improved to .251/.294/.329 with a career-high 10 doubles in 2003. However, his batting line fell to .208/.280/.254 in 2004, and the Lions released him after he had a 5-for-53 record in 2005. The Lions then released him, and the Sinon Bulls picked him up. Tseng hit .235/.309/.287 in 2006, then he announced his retirement.

Overall, Tseng hit .235/.299/.301 with 163 hits and 24 doubles in 6 seasons in the CPBL. His 339 games played were the most by a player who didn't have any steals in the CPBL.
