Biographical Information[edit]

Xu An has been an infielder for the Chinese national team.

An signed with the Yomiuri Giants in 2006 and spent the season in the Japanese minors. Returning to China, he played for the Beijing Tigers. He was with China for the 2012 Asia Series and 2012 Asian Championship. In the 2013 World Baseball Classic, he started at 3B for China, going 2 for 7 with a walk, two runs and two errors. He got his hits off Yadier Pedroso (one of only 3 Chinese hits vs. Cuba) and Oscar Nakaoshi (Brazil). Against Brazil, he got the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 8th in a comeback 5-2 win; he drew a one-out walk from Murilo Gouvea to load the bases and scored on a single by Ray Chang to give China a spot in the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
