Wytheville Reds

From BR Bullpen

In 1967, the Wytheville Reds played their only season. Members of the Appalachian League and affiliates of the Cincinnati Reds, the club from Wytheville, VA was managed by Scott Breeden. They drew 14,345 fans, 5th in the six-team league, and finished last at 24-40. Dave Tomlin (7-6, 4.34) led the league in starts (13), complete games (6) and hits allowed (93); he was third in ERA, but only because just three pitchers qualified for the ERA title - the other 2 were at 2.07 and 3.38 and Tomlin was worse than league-average. OF Gerald McNab hit .262/~.395/.563 and tied for second in the league in homers with teammate Bob Eades. Eades, Wytheville's catcher, batted .266/~.395/.522.
